Spring riding in Chicago is officially back! We've been waiting a looooong winter for this, and we’re celebrating with a full month of bikes, community, and lakefront fun.
From free bike assessments to group rides (and even a little bird watching), April is packed with ways to ride more, meet fellow bike lovers, and enjoy Chicago on two wheels.
Whether you’re a longtime customer, a Loyola student, or just someone who loves riding along the lakefront path, we’d love to see you out there.
Here’s what’s coming up this month:
Free Bike Assessments at Loyola University Chicago
Wednesday, April 15 • 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
📍 Institute of Environmental Sustainability, Loyola Campus
We’re teaming up with Loyola’s Institute of Environmental Sustainability to help students get their bikes ready for spring riding.
Stop by for:
Free bike assessments
Quick tune-ups
Chill games and tunes while you wait
If your bike has been hibernating all winter, this is the perfect time to get it checked out before the riding season kicks into full gear.
(This event is exclusively for Loyola students.)
Earth Day Lakefront Cleanup
Saturday, April 18 • 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 Igor’s Bike Shack – 3560 N Recreation Dr.
The lakefront is one of Chicago’s greatest treasures, and we’re doing our part to keep it beautiful.
Join us as we join the Chicago Park District's 41st annual Earth Day Cleanup along the Lakefront Trail. The Park District will provide bags, gloves, and rakes, and we'll provide free lunch afterward for everyone who drops off a bag of garbage collected.
It’s a great excuse to spend a morning outside, meet other bike (and Earth) lovers, and help keep the lakefront path clean for everyone who rides it.
Chicago Group Ride: Smallest to Tallest
Sunday, April 19 • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 Meet at Igor’s Bike Shack, 3650 N Recreation Dr. Meet at 9:45 AM, roll out at 10:00 AM
Consider this the Bike Shack's kickoff group ride. And our most Chicago ride yet.
We’ll start at the smallest building (Igor’s Bike Shack) and ride to the tallest building — the Willis Tower — and then cruise back along the lakefront.
Expect:
A relaxed, social pace
About a 2-hour ride
Lakefront views and skyline photos
A prize for the shortest and tallest riders who join us!
No racing, no pressure — just a fun group ride with good people.
Chicago Group Ride: Birds & Bikes
Saturday, April 25 • 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
📍 Meet at Igor’s Bike Shack 3650 N. Recreation Drive. Meet at 4:45 PM, roll out at 5:00 PM
Chicago’s lakefront isn’t just great for biking — it’s also one of the best bird migration corridors in the country.
On this ride, we’ll be joined by a ride leader from the Chicago Ornithological Society, who will help us spot and learn about the birds that pass through the lakefront every spring.
Expect:
A 2-hour relaxed ride
Bird spotting along the lakefront
BIRDO - like BINGO, with birds
A fun mix of bikes, nature, and good conversation
You don’t need to be a bird expert or a bike expert! Just come curious and ready to ride.
See You Out There
At Igor Does My Bike, we believe bikes are about more than just transportation — they’re about community, adventure, and spending time outside with great people.
These events are all about bringing riders together and celebrating everything that makes biking in Chicago special.
If you come to one, come say hi.If you come to all four… we might start to think you really like bikes.
And honestly? We respect that.
