Celebrating One Year: Our Anniversary Party Recap!

Miranda Mueller

This past Sunday, we hit a major milestone—one year of Igor Does My Bike! And what better way to celebrate than with all of you? Our shop was packed with friends, Edgewater neighbors, and fellow bike lovers, all coming together for an afternoon of music, fun, and maybe just a little bit of chain grease.

A Special Announcement

The party kicked off with one of the best moments of the day: Finally spilling the beans on some huge news—we were voted Best Bike Shop in Chicago by the Chicago Reader! It was tough keeping it under wraps, but getting to announce it in person, surrounded by the very people who made it happen, made it all the more special. Seriously, we couldn’t have done it without you! A special shout out to our Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth for attending and being such a big supporter!

A Day to Remember

The party continued with family hour, featuring bike decorating, games, and activities for kids (and, let’s be honest, some very enthusiastic adults). It was also the perfect time to introduce our new kids' corner, complete with coloring sheets so grown-ups can shop and test-ride in peace. Plus, we showcased new bells and helmets for kids, because safety and style should start early!

Raffle Winners & Giveaways

Of course, no party is complete without prizes! Our raffle winners walked away with awesome biking gear, accessories, and gift cards from other local businesses. The excitement was real, and let’s just say, next year’s raffle is going to have to be even bigger!

Live Music & Community Vibes

Nothing says “classy celebration” like live classical music with a backdrop of mechanics’ tools and bike wheels. We were beyond lucky to have three phenomenal musicians perform on harp, cello, and guitar—artists who have played at the Philharmonic Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Their music transformed the shop into the most elegant (and slightly grease-stained) concert hall in town.

Special Thanks

A huge shoutout to the Evolution Cycling Team and Chicago Critical Mass for rolling through and making the party even better. A big thank you also goes to Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth for stopping by, as well as Friends of Peirce, the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, and Block Club Chicago for helping spread the word about our event. Your support means the world to us!

Tag Yourself!

We’ve got some great photos from the event, and we want to see yours too! Tag yourself in our Facebook and Instagram posts so we can relive the fun together.

Thank You!

From the bottom of our grease-stained hearts, thank you for celebrating with us and making this first year truly special. Igor Does My Bike wouldn’t be what it is without this amazing community. We can’t wait for another year of rides, repairs, and good times ahead!

Stay tuned for more events, shop updates, and special deals—we’re just getting started! 🚲🎉
